The football team of the The University of South Carolina is represented by the South Carolina Gamecocks. Known as the Gamecocks, the team has been called simply “Carolina” for many years. They are a member of the NCAA Division I college football and compete in the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference since 1992. The Gamecocks currently play their home games in the Williams-Brice Stadium. Their latest head coach is Steve Spurrier.

Traditionally, USC sports teams were named the Fighting Gamecocks for men’s teams and Lady Gamecocks for women’s teams but this distinction was later dropped. The official colors of the USC Gamecocks are black and garnet. Some team’s merchandise also have the color gold, representing the spurs of gamecocks during cockfights. The family of Dr. J. William Flinn chose the colors garnet and black when they presented a banner to the football team sometime in November 1895. A little after 1900, there was an attempt t

Copyright © 2009 Ed Bagley

Oregon’s 47-20 upset victory over Southern California was beyond huge this week, causing a significant shift in who is where in my Top 25 Poll for college football’s 9th week of play. Here is how I see it:

1) Alabama (8-0) – The Crimson Tide was idle this week, and it was probably for the best as Florida won big, but I am not moving the Gators back to No. 1 yet. Let’s see how Alabama does when LSU comes to town next week.

2) Florida (8-0) – Did a number on Georgia, 41-17, while extending the nation’s longest winning streak to 18 games, and remains on track to meet unbeaten Alabama for the SEC title and chance to defend its 2008 national title in this year’s National Championship Game.

3) Oregon (7-1) – Upset favored Southern California in a dominating 47-20 performance worthy of real consideration for a national title shot if Alabama, Florida or Texas falters. Picked apart the USC defense for 613 total yards, not to

Only one week before the Big Dance officially gets under way, all the major conferences are having action. There are several teams from 38 Conferences willing to play hard to move from district to regional tournaments on the road to reach the Final Four on April 2.

Although, there are millions of sports fans who look forward to whip themselves into the frenzy of games. For most of these basketball enthusiast this month means a basketball show full of high talent, tired defenses and good shooters a long with big doses of fun.

In March everyone can be a Bracketologists, most people like to go with the popular one, and this gives UCLA and Kentucky privileged positions in view of the fact that no one has won more national titles than those two teams.

Since a basketball team’s success is the real catalyst for joining National Championship, it is recommendable to worry about the performance instead of popularity.

              Development

The Viper was conceived as a historical take on the classic American sports car. The iconic AC Cobra was a source of inspiration, and the final version of the Viper bears this out with its powerful engine, minimalist straightforward design, muscular and aggressive styling, and high performance. Some saw claims to kinship with the Cobra as a marketing exercise, ignoring that Carroll Shelby was heavily involved in the initial design of the Viper, and subsequent design of the Viper GTS coupe. Notably, the later (1996 through 2002) Viper GTS coupe took a few design cues from the Pete Brock designed Shelby Cobra Daytona. Though the proportions seem similar at first glance, the designs are quite unique. Carroll Shelby was key in the development of the RT/10 as well as having a hand in the development of the GTS model.

The Viper was initially conceived in late 1988 at Chrysler’s Advanced Design Studios. The following February, Chrysler president Bob Lutz

SEC Championship Highlights of Alabama vs Florida. ROLL TIDE!!

Brilliant Lewis Hamilton Wins Monaco Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton started this year’s Monaco Grand Prix in third position on the grid, behind the two Ferraris of Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen, and knew it would take a top drive to get between them, let alone win.

But after last year’s Monaco F1, when Lewis finished second when he could have won, nothing it seems was going to stop him – and in the process take the lead in the drivers championship too.

Unusually for Monaco the weather proved challenging, and rain for 20 minutes before and the first ten laps of the 2008 Monaco Grand Prix proved to be a real challenge for every driver on the circuit, and it was lap 20 before the sun really came out and the track dried.

With no traction control this year, the Monaco F1 was even more of a race of driving skill over car performance, and the Ferrari one-two earned in qualifying disappeared immediately from the start as Lewis Hamilton overtook current World Champion Kimi

New York, NY (Sports Network) – Alabama, by virtue of its 37-21 win over Texas Thursday night in the BCS national championship game, was a unanimous pick for the No. 1 spot in the final Associated Press college football poll.

The Crimson Tide (14-0), who garnered their first national championship since 1992, received all 60 first place votes for a 1,500-point total from a national media panel.

“I think most of us don’t realize how difficult it is, the togetherness that it takes, the discipline and execution that it takes, and certainly the hard work that these guys did,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said. “And we certainly appreciate it and are proud of them and want to congratulate every member of our team and coaching staff for the great coaching that they did.”

BCS Predictions: 2010 Auburn Tigers

The hiring of Gene Chizik as head coach of the Auburn Tigers may have been met with plenty of controversy and skepticism in college football predictions but it ended quickly when Auburn broke out of the gate with a 5-0 record and finished 8-5 straight up, 6-6 against the spread in college football odds, and with an Outback Bowl win over Northwestern. For many Tiger fans, the highlight of the season was a loss, however, as Auburn had hated Alabama on the ropes late in the Iron Bowl before the Crimson Tide rallied to win 26-21 and salvage their eventual national championship season. Online sportsbooks have the 2010 Auburn Tigers as 40-1 longshots in 2011 BCS odds to win the championship with a regular season win total at 8.5 OVER (-135).

Chizik was celebrated as a savior by the end of the season at Auburn and nobody was upset that he got the gig anymore. Chizik further distinguished himself in recruiting season by hauling in a top 5 class. With

Video Rating: 5 / 5

BCS Predictions: 2010 Georgia Bulldogs

With a passionate fan base, rich history, and plenty of home grown talent to recruit, the 2010 Georgia Bulldogs would seem to have everything needed to become a national power in college football odds. Georgia has not played for the Southeastern Conference title since 2005 when they clobbered LSU, however, and finished unranked last year after finishing 8-5 straight up and 5-7 against the spread in college football picks to conclude their fifth season out of the last six in which they did not produce a profit. Online sportsbooks have the 2010 Bulldogs as 40-1 longshots in BCS odds to win the championship with a regular season win total at 8.5 OVER (-120) but this is a team that definitely has a shot at the SEC title.

Head coach Mark Richt has gone 90-27 at UGA as he enters his 10th season at the helm. After being named the SEC Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2005 he finds himself fading when compared to Urban Meyer of Florida and Nick Saban of

BCS Predictions: 2010 Tennessee Volunteers

It’s been a wild two years for the Tennessee Volunteers who in 2008 were preparing for what turned out to be the disastrous final season of the Phil Fulmer era. Last year Lane Kiffin became the “Mouth of the South” as a brash, trash talking recruiting machine that coached the Vols up to a better than expected 7-6 straight up record, with 7 payouts against the spread in college football betting odds and a bowl berth in the Chick-fil-A, which turned out to be a blowout loss to Virginia Tech. The 2010 Tennessee Volunteers are listed at online sportsbooks as a +8000 longshot in 2011 BCS college football picks to win the national championship and 18-1 to win the SEC conference.

After Kiffin did such a great sales job with recruits, he later had to bail by police escort out of Knoxville as he took the vacant job at Southern Cal where he was an assistant previously in the Pete Carroll national champion ship years as a key recruiter. Kiffin said that
