The University Of Arkansas

The University of Arkansas, whose main campus is situated in Fayetteville, sits on a former hilltop farm overlooking the Ozark Mountains. When the college was founded in 1871, the site in Fayetteville was described as “2nd to none in the state of Arkansas.” The school is the major land-grant university and the state university for Arkansas. The college came was established under the Morrill Land-Grant College Act of 1862. This act demanded that federal land sales provide funds for new colleges devoted to “agriculture and the mechanic arts,” “scientific and classical studies,” and “military tactics” for the “liberal and practical education of the industrial classes.” The university has provided that education ever since. To honor all of these achievements, you can buy your own Arkansas cornhole set that comes complete with officially licensed Arkansas cornhole bean bags.

BCS Predictions: 2010 Florida Gators

The Florida Gators will enter the 2010 with a new post-Tim Tebow era and with plenty of holes to fill on both sides of the line. Florida returns only 6 starters on offense and just 5 on defense after losing just 2 games in BCS odds for the past 2 seasons. The Gators will open in college football picks as a 8-1 choice at online sportsbooks to win the national championship. Urban Meyer will face what looks to be his most challenging season in his 6 on the job at Gainesville. But Meyer is also known as an ace recruiter that has hauled in some of the highest rated classes in the country over the past few years so the cupboard is definitely loaded with new talent that is eager to take to the field.

Florida will be favored in college football odds to win the SEC East but may face stiff challenges from Georgia and South Carolina if they slip. Junior John Brantley takes over for Tebow at quarterback and is much more of a pure passer and traditional

2008 NCAA College Football News

As the 2008 NCAA football gears up, enthusiasts are laying down their prospective bets and choices. A good way of deciding which to bet on should be based on the latest developments and news.

August 1:

Sports betting experts and analysts all agree that the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) is the toughest and most talented in the south east, only behind the SEC. In particular, the Atlantic division has always featured the cream of the crop in NCAA college football.

There are a lot great teams in the ACC, but the betting pick (10-2) are the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Led by Jim Grobe, plus a host of other returning key players, not only are the Deacons poised to win the Atlantic but might go through it all undefeated.

Picked for second (9-3) are the Clemson Tigers. Led by the trio of James Davis, C.J. Spiller and Cullen Harper, the Tigers boast what may be the best offense in the league.

In his 10th year of coaching at Arkansas last season, Houston Nutt went 8-4 and beat No. 1-ranked LSU 50-48 in overtime in his final game. It was not good enough, so he resigned amid controversy over his performance and was hired by Ole Miss to coach Mississippi.

Arkansas went 5-7 this year and was not even bowl eligible. Houston Nutt inherited a Mississippi team that was 3-8 last season, was winless in the SEC and had not been to a bowl game since 2003 when Eli Manning was quarterback. This year Ole Miss was 9-4 after polishing off the mighty Texas Tech Red Raiders 47-34 in the 2008 Cotton Bowl.

To say that Arkansas’ loss became Mississippi’s gain is nothing short of a massive understatement. Ole Miss students, fans and backers are giddy with excitement and the promise of new glory for their beloved Ole Miss, and well they should be.

No. 20-ranked Mississippi came into the Cotton Bowl at 8-4

Alabama players take the podium to accept the SEC Championship trophy

Jeremiah Masoli: 2010 Ole Miss Rebels Walk-On

The Ole Miss Rebels have decided to welcome a rebel of a different sort as former Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli has agreed to walk on to the Southeastern Conference team that went 9-4 straight up and 6-5 against the spread in college football odds last year and with a Cotton Bowl Championship. Masoli led Oregon to the Pac 10 Championship last year and a berth in the Rose Bowl but has had a trouble plagued career that climaxed with him being kicked off the Oregon team this past spring in regards to stealing laptop computers from a fraternity house as well as marijuana possession. Masoli was considered to be a Heisman Trophy candidate at online sportsbooks before the career implosion at Oregon.

Masoli can play immediately for the 2010 Ole Miss football squad due to an obscure NCAA rule in which a player that has an undergraduate degree from one university can then enroll at another university for graduate school. He will enter a parks and

2010 Arkansas Razorbacks: College Football BCS Predictions

Online sportsbooks have the 2010 Arkansas Razorbacks at 35-1 in college football predictions to win the 2010 BCS national championship. The Razorbacks are a loaded offensive team that should be able to hang around most every game and perhaps pull off some upsets in college football odds along the way. Last year the Hogs went 8-5 straight up and 7-4-1 against the college football betting spread as they won the Liberty Bowl over East Carolina 20-17 in head coach Bobby Petrino’s 2nd year on the job. Petrino was known for developing high tech explosive offenses during his highly successful days at Louisville and that reputation is starting to take root in Fayetteville as the Hogs showed a 15 point improvement to average 36 points per game in 2009.

Junior quarterback Ryan Mallett returns after winning 2nd team all SEC honors last year after passing for 3,624 yards and a whopping 30 touchdowns. His top 5 receivers all return for 2010 college football

Amazing Game: Florida Against Alabama

Tonight the SEC conference play opens as the Alabama Crimson Tide play host to the Florida Gators. The Gators come into this game with a overall record of 13-2, and the team has succeed in its last two games. Florida was very last in action on Wednesday when they beat High Point 88-70. While for Alabama, they are coming in with Friday’s 93-79 win over Chicago State. Alabama have a record of 11-4 overall, counting 8-2 at home. The Crimson Tide possesses a 72-54 lead above Florida in the all-time series among the teams, but Florida has won 10 of the previous 12 games.

By means of all five starters departed back-to-back national championship teams, the Gators has been obligated to play a cluster of freshman’s during the initial 15 games of this season. Ed Bagley’s Top 25 Poll – Week 12 – Two Favorites Win Big

Copyright © 2009 Ed Bagley

There were 4 upsets of Top 25 teams this week but none of them mattered. What did matter were two favorites winning big with implications as Ohio State topped Michigan and Oregon outlasted Arizona. These events caused changes in my Top 25 Poll. Here is how I see it this week:

1) Alabama (11-0) – The Crimson Tide shut out 1-AA Chattanooga 45-0 to remain unbeaten and on target to face Florida for the SEC title, and a shot at the national championship in a game against Texas. Alabama ends its season this week with a trip to Auburn. I do not see Auburn winning this game.

2) Florida (11-0) – The Gators ripped apart Florida International 62-3 to remain unbeaten. Only visiting Florida State this week remains between the Gators and Alabama playing for a shot to be in the national championship game against Texas.

3) Texas (11-0) – The Longhorns whipped Kansas 51-20 to remain unbeaten and on course to play in the
